Manufactures can use a barcode scanner to follow the progress of products in production. They can also use this as a timekeeping app.

Using Barcode Labels to Start and Stop a Timer

Just put a bar code label on your products or work orders.  Employees will scan their names, then a product label, and a timer will start.  Scan the word 'STOP' and you'll suddenly have some new information to help improve manufacturing efficiency.

You'll know: time for each piece, time for each project, and time spent for each employee.  That's new information you may never have had.
